Laval is the largest suburb of Montreal and a thriving city all of its own. It is located just north of the metropolis along the Riviere des Prairies on the historic island, Ile Jesus. It has a population of around 400,000 residents and there are hundreds of reasons why someone might choose to add themselves to this count by buying real estate in the city. We here at Laval Quebec Real Estate are going to let you in on all of them. From the diverse economy to access points to the Montreal Metro system many people choose this location for its amazing career options. And if you're bringing a family along with you from Bloor West Village real estate or Quebec City than there are still wonderful schools, sports teams and plenty of culture options.

The area was first settled by the Jesuits in 1636 and in 1675 Francois de Montmorency-Laval became the new owner of the seigneury, which was a large estate home provided by the King of France. The island did not see a lot of development until the beginning of the twentieth century and urbanization. This produced several smaller cities and fourteen municipalities joined together in 1965 to become what we now know as the City of Laval.

When living in Quebec's second largest city you might believe that you would need to sacrifice access to the outdoors and parkland in favour of urbanization. But Laval is actually known for its green spaces, including the Parc de la Riviere-des-Mille-Iles, a number of golf courses and places where you can walk along a river path or rent a canoe for the afternoon. This is a balance of city and country life that you will not find with homes for sale in Brampton or once you enter the borders of Montreal.

There is also so much history and gorgeous architecture to enjoy in various neighbourhoods throughout the city, whether you're looking for a home to purchase or are just visiting for the day from somewhere like North York real estate. And if you are in the market to buy we can tell you all about the most popular areas and the ones where you might be able to get a great deal. Some people want to be close to the downtown core and others are interested in a home that will allow them easy access into Montreal during the week. We can help you find what you're looking for before you need to take time off work to come down from Guelph real estate or Toronto.

The first language of about two thirds of the population of Laval is French and about seventy-five percent of households speak French at home. This might be a little bit scary for those coming to live here from PEI real estate or a home in Calgary who only can communicate in English. But we are here to help you with that as well. This is a bilingual city and you will be able to find everything from the right grocery store to a nail salon with our help.
